Mobile handsets also act as camera, MP3 player, video player, Internet platform, data storage device, and more — all with ever-increasing capacity and sophistication, and all fitting snugly within your palm. But this increased capability has led to an increase in their factoring within criminal investigations. Camera capability, data storage, and the ability to determine a user’s location at the point a call was made through ‘geographical signal triangulation’, have all led to mobile phones becoming ever more relied on as evidence within legal cases.
